Branch 62 Makes Donations

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 Sarnia presented cheques to several local groups during the Legion Christmas Social held at the Branch on December 13 2017. The Sarnia Legion donated $2000.00 to each of the following organizations The Inn of the Good Shepherd, Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul. A cheque for $1000.00 was given to the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope. The Hub and St. Andrews Church each received $500.00 and Ecole Franco-Jeunesse received $675.00 for two students who attended Encounters with Canada

Sarnia Kinsmen Donation

The Sarnia Kinsmen generously donated $1000.00 to the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 Poppy Trust Fund at their October 18th,2017 meeting. Sarnia Legion Public Relations Officer Les Jones was invited to speak to the Kinsmen members about the Legion and the work it does for Veterans and the community. The Poppy Trust Fund is used to assist Veterans and their families.

Banner Program

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 is starting a Veteran Banner Program this year.
Families of Veterans will be able to purchase a banner in memory/honour of their Veteran.
The banners are 24 inches wide by 54 inches tall and will be displayed from City of Sarnia lamppost along Christina Street between George Street and Wellington Street. Each banner will have a picture of the Veteran along with his name, branch of  service, theatre of service and sponsor’s name. The Canadian Fag and Union Jack are displayed across the top of the banner with the Legion crest and Poppy along the bottom.
The cost for the banner is $150.00 and it will be displayed for three years at which time the banner will be given to the sponsor. Ten dollars from each sale will be donated to assist homeless Veterans.
Application forms are available at the Legion. There are a limited number spaces to display the banners.
