DESCRIPTION:The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is being celebrated in 2022 in the Commonwealth to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 1952. \nTo mark this once in a life time achievement\, Sarnia Legion Branch 62 will host a Platinum Jubilee Dinner and Dance to celebrate her reign as Queen.     \nJune 4\, 2022 \n5:30 p.m. Cocktails\n6:00 p.m. Dinner\n7:30 p.m. Dance to 50’s Live music (1950’s attire\, Military First Dress\, or best dress are encouraged)\n11:00 p.m. Adjourn \n$40 per ticket or a table of 8 for $300.  Tickets can be purchased in person at Sarnia Legion Branch 62 at the bar downstairs.  You can also buy tickets via our website from the links below. \nBuy Individual Tickets for a table of 8. $40 \nhttps://sarnialegion.com/product/queens-jubilee-dinner-dance/ \nBuy a Full Table of 8. $300 ($20 saving)\n\nhttps://sarnialegion.com/product/queens-jubilee-group-of-8/ \n— \nLive Entertainment: \nWe will dance to the live musical talents of Larry and The Landline.  They will play all of the classics from the 1950s era. \nWhy is the Jubilee in June? \nThis marks the date in 1952 when Queen Elizabeth’s father\, King George VI\, died unexpectedly\,  6th\, February 1952\, when then Princess Elizabeth was just 25. While this therefore meant that she became Queen\, the event was met with a period of mourning\, so her coronation didn’t come until over a year later\, in June 1953. \nThe Queen’s coronation nevertheless took place on June 2\, 1953\, at Westminster Abbey in London. The major Platinum Jubilee celebrations will therefore begin on Thursday\, June 2\, 2022\, and will continue over the weekend until June 5.
